Grilled fish sandwiches were great. Janet behind the bar did a great job! You will love looking around at all the racing history in display.

As much as I wanted to enjoy myself, I simply did not. The food is 'OK'. The live music was pretty good, but stopped at 10pm, which I think is a little early for a Friday night. The restaurant/bar was supposed to be open til 2AM on Friday, but they did last call around 11pm because the owner 'felt like it' as we were told by our server. It's kind of a sad place. It has potential, but just seems to be a place for wash-outs. The atmosphere looks pretty cool outside...kind of like a backdrop you'd see when playing guitar hero, but in reality, the actual service, management and mood of the place is more sad than anything else. Next time I'll be spending my time and money elsewhere.

I wasn't very impressed when I came here with a Groupon. The NASCAR theme in the restaurant is about what you'd expect in Daytona...the food is not. Wings were pretty dry and overcooked, and the fries were the same (exactly the same) fries that Wing Zone uses, those crap weird zigzag fries that taste like cardboard and get cold in 5 minutes. Our server was nice but it took an hour to get the food and that's a little excessive for wings, a burger, and fries. Will likely not be back unless they make some big changes to the food.

This place is great! The tiki bar outside is a great place to sit and listen to live music while eating some fresh steamed clams. Anytime we have guest in from out of town we stop here for a bucket of beer.

Great local bar! We stop in hear often to eat with our friends and just have a few brews. The outside deck patio area is nice. They have live bands and when its chilly they have a gas burn pit on the deck for heat. It is in a great location on Ridgewood and Commonwealth with plenty of parking. Lot's of bikers here too - all very cool!

Great local spot! Don't let impressions from the roadside fool you, as this place offers the best of both outdoor dive-bar-style seating, with indoor pub atmosphere. Live music is often on the deck, and the service is excellent! On our first visit, we sat outdoors and were treated like regulars. Meaning people we'd never met paused by our table to chat, waved when they walked past, and made us feel like we belonged there. Uber-friendly crowd! Oysters on the half-shell were large (in-season) and delicious! Fries were crispy and hot. Club sandwich came stacked so high we had to compress it to eat it. Wings are awesome and are available in several sauce flavors. Others in our party (locals) said the burgers were the best on the beach. They looked perfect, though I didn't have room for a taste. The drinks . . . oh, yes. I've searched three counties in Florida for a great margarita--you know, one that doesn't taste like a Pixie Stix--and I've finally found it! I asked for a "top-shelf-style, not made with sour mix, Cuervo gold," and baby, it was perfect! Saw them splash it with Grand Marnier, a heavy pour of tequila, and they even brought me a small cup with extra lime wedges on the side. Our waitress often checked on our table, but was never intrusive. The owner popped by our table to ask how we were doing, and when I told her how great the margarita was, she asked which bartender made it. This tells me First Turn not only cares about their customers, but about retaining the best employees, as well. She (the owner), ended up chatting with us for about five minutes, again making us feel welcome. This place will absolutely be our new local hangout, and I'm only sorry I didn't give it a chance years ago!

The First Turn is easy to find at the Northwest corner of Ridgewood and Commonwealth in Port orange. You have the choice to dine in the lounge or outdoors at the Tiki Bar. Happy hour starts daily at 3:00 PM and runs til 7:00 PM. Their fresh oysters and clams are either shucked or cooked to your order and their chicken wings are, hands down, the best in the area. Period! You can order them seasoned to your preference of heat and you really should try the grilled version because it adds yet another dimension of flavor to something that's already very good.. First Turn's staff are attentive and friendly and the Tiki Bar is a great place to spend some afternoon and evening time when the weather permits. One other thing, before you leave, try a Jello Shot. they come in various flavors of liquors and it's a nice way to finish after a basket of wings or an order of steamers or oysters. Enjoy!
